Six track mini album Leave It At The Door - released under the moniker T: Lo - is a lo fi ambient folk collaboration between indie songstress Loene Carmen and the mysterious Kristyna, whose distinctive musical stylings graced the recent Beautiful Kate soundtrack and have appeared on albums by Spencer P. Jones, Dave Graney and The Cruel Sea. They have worked creatively together on multiple art/music projects, including the classic music video for 'My Friends Call Me Foxy' from Carmen’s debut 2002 album.

The T:Lo basic recordings took place New Years Eve 2002, with Kristyna and Carmen laying down some improvised guitar and incidental noise tracks in Carmen’s Darlinghurst home studio hothouse, Loose Connections, before heading out to a party. Upon returning in the wee hours of the New Year, they listened back and jotted down random lyrics and thoughts. Kristyna returned to her home in the country and over the next week Carmen worked from their combined notes to record vocal tracks for a song per night.

Some copies were given to friends and that was that. But T: Lo’s soft charms, creaking doors and candid lyrics struck a nerve and at the urging of various peers, Carmen took the raw mixes to champion indie producer Tony Dupe (Holly Throsby, Saddleback) at his famed rustic South Coast digs, where he worked a little studio magic and added some ghostly piano touches of his own.

However, the timing for releasing it never seemed right so it continued to gather metaphorical dust in the ol’ bottom drawer – until Carmen decided 2010 was the year to clear the decks of all unreleased material, with T: Lo’s Leave It At The Door first on the rather long list.

Australian songstress Lo Carmen inhabits ‘an intangible, magical, rarefied space, somewhere between Tom Waits and Dolly Parton’ ... "It’s always been about the voice...beauty and danger, knowing and innocence, sex and longing, and love... torch blues, gothic country, with occasional outbreaks of smoky nightclub... She sings it, you believe her. And that’s enough." (Drum Media) ... more
